From Oban to Ullapool: Possible Route
Oban – Start of your adventure
Your sailing adventure begins in Oban, where Steady will be waiting for you in the marina at North Pier, just 300 metres from the train station. At 17:00 we, Jan-Willem and Mariëlle, welcome you on board. You will have time to explore the ship and meet your fellow travellers and the crew. After this first introduction, we enjoy a shared dinner on board. Afterwards, we will tell you everything about the journey and the adventures ahead.
The Small Isles
After an initial stop in colourful Tobermory, where we spend the night, your sailing adventure continues to the Small Isles. This beautiful group of four islands – Eigg, Muck, Rum and Canna – is famous for its unspoiled nature, impressive views and rich wildlife. The exact destination within the Small Isles depends on the weather conditions, making each journey unique.
Course to the Outer Hebrides and the Shiant Isles
From the Small Isles we set course for the Outer Hebrides, an archipelago stretching from south to north along the west coast of Scotland. We follow the coastline past the breathtaking islands of Barra, Vatersay, Eriskay and South Uist before continuing towards Stornoway on the island of Lewis.
These islands are known for their rugged beauty, remote atmosphere and rich history. During our journey we pass the Shiant Isles, an uninhabited island group famous for its impressive bird colonies. These islands are a paradise for birdwatchers, with puffins and other seabirds nesting in large numbers on the steep cliffs. The Shiant Isles represent a unique piece of untouched nature where the power of the elements is clearly visible.
If time and weather conditions allow, we offer the opportunity to take an excursion from Stornoway to the famous Standing Stones of Callanish, where prehistoric stones provide a fascinating glimpse into ancient rituals. We also visit the Black Houses, traditional thatched houses reflecting life in the Hebrides in earlier times.
From the Outer Hebrides to Ullapool
After our adventures in the Outer Hebrides, we set course for Ullapool. This will be an active sailing day, offering excellent opportunities to spot marine life. Dolphins, seals and even orcas may be seen as we cross these waters.
Along the way we pass the Summer Isles, a group of small islands known for their unspoiled nature and rich biodiversity. The Summer Isles offer a stunning landscape of green hills, cliffs and tranquil bays.
Upon arrival in Ullapool, located on Loch Broom, we enjoy one final moment on the water before saying goodbye and reflecting on a journey full of adventure, breathtaking landscapes and unforgettable memories.
Nature sets the course: “Nature and weather play an important role in our sailing voyages, making each trip unique. The proposed route serves as inspiration but may be adjusted depending on weather conditions. This ensures an adventurous experience while always prioritising safety and enjoyment.”
