Day-to-day programme
Day 1 – Welcome in Medemblik
Your adventure begins in Medemblik. From 17:00, you are welcome on board to meet the ship, the crew, and your fellow travellers. We start with a shared dinner, followed by a detailed briefing about the vessel, safety procedures, and the journey ahead. You will spend the night on board.
Day 2 – Medemblik to Texel (approx. 30 NM)
In the morning, we begin with crew instruction and sail training, focusing on rigging, boat handling, and teamwork. The IJsselmeer offers plenty of space to practise manoeuvres and get familiar with the vessel. Later in the day, we set course for Texel, where we stay overnight and prepare for the North Sea crossing.
Day 3–4 – Texel to Whitby (approx. 250 NM)
Time for real offshore sailing. We cross the North Sea, sailing day and night with everyone fully participating in the watch system. Upon arrival in Whitby, there is time to explore this atmospheric coastal town, known for its connection to Captain James Cook and Dracula. Visit Whitby Abbey, the James Cook Museum, or relax in one of the cosy cafés.
Day 5–6 – Whitby to Holy Island (Lindisfarne) (approx. 85 NM)
We continue our journey along the English coast towards Holy Island, a tidal island known for its medieval monastery and large seal population. We anchor in a sheltered bay, with the opportunity to explore the island by dinghy and experience its unique atmosphere.
Day 7–9 – Holy Island to Inverness (approx. 175 NM)
The final offshore stages take us further north towards Scotland. Depending on weather and conditions, a stop in the Moray Firth is possible. These days focus on active offshore and night sailing, with everyone involved in navigation, sail handling, and the watch system.
Day 10 – Arrival in Inverness
We arrive in Inverness and conclude this impressive sailing journey. There is time to explore the city and surroundings, and in the evening we celebrate with a shared dinner on board.
Day 11 – Disembarkation
After breakfast on board, we say our goodbyes. You leave with hundreds of nautical miles, valuable offshore experience, and memories of a remarkable sailing adventure.
Please note: The itinerary is subject to weather conditions and may be adjusted if necessary. The focus is on true offshore sailing, and we are prepared to continue sailing even in less ideal conditions. This trip is designed for serious sailors who embrace the elements.
