Day-to-day programme – Possible itinerary
Day 1 – Ullapool: On board & departure
Step on board Steady at 13:30 in Ullapool, moored at the marina next to the fishing quay. Meet your fellow travellers, feel at home on board and explore the ship. After a warm welcome, we set course along the rugged west coast of Scotland towards Lochinver. Enjoy the open water, keep an eye out for wildlife and relax as we sail to our first anchorage. (~26 NM)
Day 2 – Stornoway & coast of Lewis
Arrival in Stornoway where we moor alongside the quay. Explore the charming streets of the town, visit local shops or take a walk along the waterfront. Immerse yourself in the culture of Lewis and enjoy the harbour views. (~38 NM)
Day 3 – To the bird island: the Shiant Islands
We set course early for one of the highlights of the trip: the Shiant Islands. After a sail of approximately 20 nautical miles – with a chance of spotting dolphins, seabirds and perhaps even a whale – we reach this remote archipelago in the middle of the Minch. The Shiants are a true paradise for birds, with thousands of puffins, auks and gannets nesting on the steep cliffs. Explore the islands by dinghy for a unique wildlife experience. Overnight at anchor nearby. (~20 NM)
Day 4 – Duntulm, Skye: castle ruins & coastal views
We sail to the northern tip of Skye and anchor at Duntulm. Explore the ruins of Duntulm Castle, perched on cliffs overlooking the Minch and the Outer Hebrides. Admire the panoramic coastal scenery, spot seabirds and seals and enjoy the serene beauty of this historic location. (~13 NM)
Day 5 – Loch Gairloch
From Skye we sail southwards back to the west coast. We anchor in Loch Gairloch, a sheltered bay surrounded by the impressive mountains of Wester Ross. Walk along the coastline, look out for seals in the bay or relax on deck and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. (~25 NM)
Day 6 – Sailing to Ullapool
Departure from Loch Gairloch as we sail north towards Ullapool across open water, keeping an eye out for marine wildlife. A longer day at sea, perfect for active sailing, spotting dolphins and seabirds or simply relaxing on deck. Arrival in Ullapool in the evening and overnight in the marina. (~37 NM)
Day 7 – Departure in Ullapool
After the final breakfast on board, disembarkation at 09:00. Leave with unforgettable memories of impressive landscapes, abundant wildlife and the sensation of sailing along the rugged west coast of Scotland.
